Evonik Industries (Evonik) required a new facility within an existing operational chemical plant behind the gates. The project presented many challenges including an accelerated schedule, weight and size concerns, determination of location within the plant as close to operations as possible, working in a blast zone, and transportation of the modules.
Evonik’s new BRM building features a QA laboratory and supporting office space. The laboratory features seven fume hoods and chemical resistant flooring. Brewer worked with Evonik’s lab managers and engineers to select fume hoods with advanced molecular filtration technology. These fume hoods are capable of adsorbing multiple chemical types simultaneously, essentially eliminating the need for application-specific filters. The project was completed on time and within budget.
