The new single-story, tilt-wall concrete building features a main laboratory, environmental/wet laboratory, sample receiving area, shipping and receiving area, conference room overlooking the plant, new lobby area, offices and cubicles, breakroom, locker rooms, and restrooms. The main laboratory is outfitted with snorkel hoods, gas chromatography (GC) benches with process piping, regulators, and valves, point-of-use high-pressure and low-pressure valves, stainless steel tubing for high-pressure gases, fume hoods for H2S on a separate manifold system, 8’ benchtop fume hoods, steel casework with 1” epoxy resin tops, and windows around the perimeter. The building’s exterior features a large outdoor stainless steel fume hood for sample residue with overhead pipe manifold that feed to a flare stack designed by the Brewer team. The project also included the design and installation of a large fire water holding tank. The new QA/QC operations laboratory supports refinery production and provides the required federal, state, and industry testing for all outgoing chemical product shipments via rail, truck, and pipeline. The building showcases the large, shared laboratories by providing visual connections between the visitor areas and the workspaces. The new facility provides an efficient layout and safe operating environment that meets the clients’ growing business needs.
