The majority of the building was demolished including removal of the deteriorating building skin and replacement of damaged structural components. The structural upgrades included a support column, wind braces, reframing exterior windows, replacing windows, and bringing the building up to current code. The slab was saw cut for the installation of a new process waste system for the laboratory drainage and new sanitary waste system. The building interior was completely redesigned and features a new state-of-the-art laboratory, administrative offices, breakroom, and restrooms. The laboratory is comprised of five six-foot fume hoods, including two green hoods, two laboratory grade filtration system halos, ultrapure water dispenser, and tanks at a specifically designed height and weight load for distilling and preparing solutions. The new facility provides an efficient layout and safe operating environment to meet the needs of Aqua’s growing business. The project was completed on time, within budget, and with zero recordable injuries.
